Eastern Region Education Scholarship

Purpose: To support the furtherance of the education of Advent Christian Church members for service in the Advent Christian Church.

Qualifications

      Applicants must be members in good standing of an Advent Christian Church in the Eastern Regional Assoc.

     Applicants must commit to serving in the local church through lay or vocational ministry.

     Applicants must pursue biblical-theological education to further their service to the Advent Christian Church in lay or vocational ministry.

                      Include a pastoral reference in the form of a letter. This letter should include:

·        Confirmation that you are a member in good standing of the church;

·        Character reference;

·        Ministry involvement.

Procedures

The Eastern Regional Association Board will determine the scholarship amount and recipients based on all information received and available funds. Although using only the interest from the Scholarship Fund principal is recommended, the ERA Board is empowered to draw from the principal in exceptional circumstances, as determined by the ERA Board.

The deadline for all applications is May 1st for the following academic year. Approved scholarships are disbursed 

VINCENT E. TABER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

GUIDELINES AND QUALIFICATIONS

The Vincent E. Taber Memorial Scholarship is an award made annually to a qualified student based on the following guidelines and qualifications:

  1. One scholarship award in the amount of five hundred dollars ($500.00) will be made annually as long as sufficient funds are available in the account.
  2. The Regional Board of Directors/ executive committee will review applications and make the final decision as to the recipient.
  3. Preference will be given to students of need accepted at Berkshire Institute for Christian Studies. Award monies will be directly applied to student’s account.
  4. The application must be received by September 15th of any year and the award will be made prior to the start of the school year.

Qualifications

  1. The applicant must be a member in good standing of an Advent Christian Church or other evangelical church.
  2. The applicant must be of sound Christian character and provide a letter of recommendation from his/her pastor.
  3. The applicant must provide a brief statement of personal testimony and sense of call to Christian service.
  4. The applicant must be able to demonstrate financial need by providing information on anticipated annual costs along with expected sources of income.
  5. The applicant must provide a transcript of last completed year of schooling.

DuBois Scholarship

Scholarship Amount

Scholarship amount will be determined based on number of applicants and available funds. The scholarship monies will be dispersed during the 2nd semester of the academic year.

Scholarship Purpose & Description

This scholarship is given in loving memory of Rev. Wendell DuBois, Tammy DuBois and Virgene Hughes. It is designed to assist those seeking a call to vocational ministry in achieving their academic goals. The scholarship monies will be disbursed during the 2nd semester of the academic year.

Geographic Restrictions

Students in the Maine State Conference

Qualifications & Eligibility Requirements

Preference will be given to:

  • Those attending an Advent Christian church in the Maine State Conference.
  • Those who are sensing a call to ministry.
  • Those who are in need of financial assistance.
  • Those needing to attend a Christian college.

Application Procedure

  • All application materials must be postmarked by August 31 to be considered.
  • Application must include the following:
    • Application must be completed in full.
    • Evidence of personal faith must be shown through written testimony.
    • Pastoral recommendation.
    • Copy of most recent transcripts.

Berkshire Christian Scholarship Fund

Scholarship Amount

Scholarships range from $500 to $5000 and are offered as one time or twice a year, and many are renewable.

Scholarship Purpose & Description

  • Ministry Training Institute (MTI): $900 per year (includes $600 for tuition and up to $300 for course materials)
  • Undergraduate Bible College Students: $1,000 per year
  • Graduate-level Seminary Students: $2,500 per year
  • Doctoral-level Students: $5,000 per year
  • Seminary education in partnership with Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary at four campuses – two in Mass., one in Fla., one in N.C. (www.gordonconwell.edu)Advent Christian students receive up to a 50% tuition reduction. (Additional scholarship assistance may also be available).

  • These scholarships are available to persons in the above programs.
